What an independent lab is and why it matters

Not all 'third-party testing' is equal. The difference between a verifiable independent lab and an unbacked badge is the difference between data and a marketing claim.

Independent means no commercial relationship

An independent lab has no financial stake in the result. The best CoAs say so explicitly: the lab is not paid based on the purity it reports. If the vendor and the lab are the same company, the analysis is not independent.

Janoshik Analytical, the de facto standard

In the European peptide market, Janoshik Analytical (Prague, Czechia) has become the reference. It publishes each report on its own domain (verify.janoshik.com) with a unique key, so anyone can confirm the certificate has not been altered. Other recognised labs: Liquilabs (Czechia), SafeCert (CLIA, USA).

Verifiable at source: the acid test

A PDF CoA hosted on the vendor's own site can be faked in five minutes with an image editor. A CoA verifiable on the lab's domain cannot. That is why we only score highly vendors whose certificates can be checked at source, not in their own store.

What to check yourself

Look for the lab's name, a verification key or QR, and confirm the link goes to the lab's domain (not the vendor's). If there is no way to verify at source, treat the stated purity as a claim, not a fact.
